Competitively Priced SMS Guano Phosphorus Fertiliser

Back in September, Soil Management Systems booked its largest shipment of SMS Guano phosphorus fertiliser arriving early February. Securing the shipment early has enabled SMS to price its alternative to MAP/DAP fertilisers at a very competitive price; around a considerable $600 per ton saving. The ship is booked to arrive early February.

Each year SMS has been increasing its imports to cater for increasing demand. SMS Guano fits SMS objectives perfectly; greater fertiliser use efficiency particularly phosphorus; which gives an assured return on investment; very biologically attractive; mineral rich; not just NPK! , not prone to leaching or binding up in soil unlike MAP/DAP, depending on the soil type.

A popular blend for broadacre farmers is a fertiliser with starter nitrogen and some sulfur. Although SMS Guano naturally has some N and S, blending Ammonium Sulphur enhances this level. The added bonus is the good levels of trace elements and micronutrients helping to build soil mineral balance. Many agronomists advising their clients are now supporting SMS Guano in their farming systems. Application rates are similar to applications of traditional fertilisers.

As a Carbon rich fertiliser, it offers a great means of working towards meeting the demands of sequestering carbon in our soils. This is obviously going to be a topic of conversation in our farming systems for many years to come. SMS intends to have much input into this area in future as we always have.
