Mineral Rich Seabird Guano

Seabird Guano is the most mineral rich fertiliser known to man.  This is a statement that Soil Management Systems like to promote to our customers. Why! because its true. We can help save farmers money whilst delivering a fertiliser that is rich in minerals such as Potassium, Nitrogen, Sulphur Calcium and Magnesium, plus a range of Trace Elements.

Harvest weather is fortunately very favorable at present. Hopefully it is all coming off well. We know it is variable depending on timing and amount of rain. Travelling to Adelaide last week I witness the effects of the frost on the vines. It is certainly very bad.

Purchase your Seabird Guano Fertiliser Now, as Prices will be increasing

Over the last month or so we have had early enquiry for Guano and our blends for next season. We have offered current prices with the stocks we have in warehouse. With new season stocks coming in prices are trending up. From a low in August, Phosphorus prices have increased about $US84 per ton along with a fall in the exchange rate.

Independent research by Dr. Ashley Martin over four years on SMS Guano in both alkaline and acid soils has been very valuable in showing the various benefits of Guano. Much of this is summarized on our website. If any more information or clarification is needed, please call our office.

At SMS we promote Leaf testing for the plant’s nutrition status in the growing season. It is a very much underutilized tool which can be used to fine tune the nutrition during the growing season. It is interesting to me to see Phosphorus levels in these Leaf tests mostly in the low to medium range rather than at desirable levels even in soils with very high P levels.

This can be overcome partly with seed dressing but more so with a scientifically formulated phosphorus foliar application such as SMS Polyphos. Responses to this have been very impressive. As P is the energy driver of the plant enabling greater efficiencies from fertilisers there is a multiplying effect.

I always say that there is no one magical product because of the many variables in crops, soils and seasons. Comprehensive Soil analysis together with Leaf testing to balance nutrient status of plants produces the data to understand the variables. Along with encouraging soil biology and diversity crops and pastures are much healthier and more robust.

SMS Guano is a complete fertiliser with its many mineral nutrients along with its attraction to soil biology.

Our vision is to work closely with farming clients to help them understand their soils and provide service and products that enhance the life, balance and productivity of their soils. I invite you to have a look at our products and services.
